“Né carne, né pesce.”

(“nay car-nay, nay pay-shay”)

Neither meat, nor fish.
Neither here, nor there.

An unsettled state of feeling in two places at once, being split and undecided.

Mo, when in Italy, look for collections of Italian proverbs. When I lived in Rome, a confrere gave me a collection of Venetian proverbs in both the Veneto dialect and Italian. Wonderful wisdom. Not surprising, la gente d’Italia non e’ scesa con la ultima pioggia. There are many generations of memories behind them.
