Bottle Day

There’s just something about having my bedroom window on the ground level, facing the street. At about 5:30 in the morning the recycling truck pulls up and parks in front of my window. They roll the glass-sorting bins holding a building’s-worth of bottles up to the truck and dump them with an alarming clatter. Imagine the sound.

I know of less jarring alarm clocks.

Is this EVERY morning? That is about the time I am sleeping most deeply so it would really scare the crapola out of me to be awakened that way!

No, thankfully. Not every morning. I haven’t actually tracked it. I just know that it’s part of the “symphony” (what a misnomer!) of sounds that disturb my sleep. I went from having Laddie yowling outside my door every morning in Seattle, to the various city sounds in Milano.
